Dear
Friends,
What
a wonderful Parish Picnic we had
last Sunday! So many people
chipped in to help out that it
made the burden light on
everyone. To all the people who
brought a dish or two for the pot
luck, thank you! To all the
people who provided the
entertainment, thank you! (My
favorite was the Tatola boys
doing their Tongan War Dance).
To everyone who had anything to
do with the Parish Picnic, thank
you from the bottom of my heart.
There were so many of you who
helped, Id be afraid if I
started naming names, Id
leave someone out. You know, God
knows, who you are and
thats what matters most.
The two people, though, that put
all this together deserve special
mention: Jim and Angi Rodriguez.
Without them, this day would not
have happened. Thank you, Jim
and Angi, and thank you everyone
else for a great afternoon of
community and fellowship.
Well definitely do it
again.
Another
big thank you goes to all the
people who helped with the Mater
Dolorosa Novena. We doubled our
usual crowd at the morning Mass
during these nine days of special
prayer to our Blessed Mother.
Thank you, one and all, for all
your help, and special thanks go
to Violeta Carnero who
spearheaded this event. Like the
Parish Picnic, well
definitely do the Novena again
next year.
This
past week, we lost one of the
founding members of Mater
Dolorosa Parish, Jack Devine.
Our prayers are with Adair, his
wife; their six children and
their families. Jack was a loyal
parishioner who always sat in the
front pew at the 10:00 Sunday
Mass. He will be
missed!
|
Have
a great
week!

In
todays Gospel, the
vineyard owner says,
I am free to do as
I please with my money,
am I not? We are
likewise free. Is a
generous return to the
Lord in thanksgiving for
His many blessings among
the choices we have
made?

Next Saturday, September 27th, following
the 5:00 Mass, we will have a Parish
Celebration to honor Fr. ODonnell
for his 50 years of priestly ministry to
Gods people. Join us for his
Jubilee Celebration with a reception in
the Parish Hall, following Mass.
Lets show Fr. ODonnell our
appreciation for his 18 years of service
as Pastor of Mater Dolorosa Church.
|
A special thank you to Al
& Joan Malley, former
parishioners and founding members
of Mater Dolorosa, for their
generous donation to our Parish
Improvement Fund. Their
donation was used to purchase our
much-needed new sound system for
the Parish Hall. Many
thanks for your gift, Mr. &
Mrs. Malley!
