THEME
OF OUR LITURGY
-
|
|
Todays
scriptures emphasize the
fundamental link between love of
God and love of our
neighbors.
|
First
Reading: Exodus 22:20-26
You shall not oppress an alien, for you
yourselves were once aliens in
Egypt.
Second
Reading: 1 Thessalonians
1:5c-10
You became imitators of the Lord, so that
you became a model for all
believers.
Gospel:
Matthew 22:34-40
You shall love the Lord, your God, with
all your heart, and you shall love your
neighbor as yourself.

PARISH
NEWS
The
newly dedicated Cathedral of Christ the
Light in Oakland was the venue for the
investiture of 26 women, men and members
of the clergy into the Equestrian Order of
the Holy Sepulcher, on Sunday, October 5,
2008. The Most Reverend George H.
Niederauer, Archbishop of San Francisco,
presided over the ceremony. Among those
inducted into the Order was Father Michael
Padazinski. The fundamental purpose of
the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher
is the preservation of the Catholic faith
in the Holy Land. The Order provides
spiritual, moral and also material support
to the Christians still living
there.
Secondly,
last week, during the annual convention of
the Canon Law Society of America in Kansas
City, Missouri, Fr. Padazinski was elected
to the National Board of Governors for the
C.L.S.A.
Our
heartfelt congratulations go to Fr.
Padazinski, for these great
honors!
