YOU
ARE ALL INVITED!
Prayer
in Chaos, Commotion, and Clutter by Kathy
Coffey
Thursday, March 26th 6:30 p.m. to 8:30
p.m.
Mater Dolorosa Parish
Hall
Are you
too busy to pray? Yet, do you feel a
nagging need for it? Many people share
the dilemmalonging for a spiritual
center that gives meaning and depth to
even the craziest days. We know we have a
great need for prayer, yet we also face
tremendous constraints on our time.
Lets take time now, in a session
that will explore how prayer can occur in
ordinary ways and commonplace locations,
in settings when were stressed as
well as in tranquil
retreats.
- How
can springboards to prayer occur in
packed schedules?
- How
can we then help others to find the
seeds of the sacred in the ordinary
experience?
- Well
look at ways to move beyond our
stereotypes of prayer, see our work as
prayer
- Adapt
traditional prayers to contemporary
settings
- Drawing
children into a life of
prayer
Kathy
Coffey is an experienced workshop leader
and author of books, catechetical
resources and many articles in Catholic
periodicals. She taught for 15 years at
the University of Colorado, Denver, and
Regis Jesuit University. She gives
retreats and workshops nationally and
internationally. Kathy is the mother of
four children, and lives in Denver,
Colorado. Please RSVP to Rachael Smit at
(650) 588-8175 (you may leave a message).
PARISH
IMPROVEMENTS at MATER
DOLOROSA
Thanks
to the generous donations of our
parishioners, we were able to make the
following improvements to our
parish:
- Repair
most plumbing in the convent, and
replace fixtures in the washrooms.
- Replace
the sink in the old Kindergarten room
(that is now home to Second Harvest
Brown Bag Senior Program), and replace
and repair the plumbing.
- Replace
the large school lobby window which was
cracked.
- Paint
and carpet the Reflection
Room in the school
lobby.
- Replace
fixtures in two washrooms in the
rectory.
- The
stained glass in the church has been
repaired and sealed.
- The
furnaces in the rectory were replaced
and updated, and are now functioning
efficiently and safely.
Please
remember, once our Archbishops
Annual Appeal goal is met of 40,300., all
donations over that amount go directly to
Mater Dolorosa Church for parish
improvements and upkeep. We have many
more projects around here that we will
focus on this year. Lets all pull
together and support our wonderful church
and buildings so they remain in good
condition for many years to
come.
Thanks
to all who have so far contributed to the
AAA 2009, and throughout the
years!
